The first step in becoming eligible for employment as an electrician at Sollmann Electric Co.  is to register for the Apprenticeship Program with the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC).    If you have any questions regarding this program, call the ABC at 800-686-6440.  An interested applicant must also enroll in an Electrical Trades Program at an approved training unit.  Once the individual is accepted into the ABC Apprenticeship Program, he or she can complete an employment application with Sollmann Electric Co.

SCHOOL-TO-WORK PROGRAM:

• During Junior & Senior years of high school.

• 2 weeks of work followed by 2 weeks of school.

• Work during summer (unless attending summer school).

• 2 years of School-to-Work equals 1 year of the Apprenticeship Program.

  • Need 4 years of Apprenticeship Program to become a Journeyman Electrician.

APPRENTICESHIP AFTER SCHOOL:

• Work full-time.

• Classes 2 nights per week.

  • Tuition approx. $1,500-$2,000/year.
  • Register by July through your teachers at JVS or contact Denny Sollmann for more information.

TUITION PAYMENT SCHEDULE

• 1^st year level paid up-front by Sollmann Electric, but will be deducted from your paycheck weekly to reimburse the company.

• 2^nd year level paid up-front by Sollmann Electric, but will be deducted from your paycheck weekly to reimburse the company.

  • After completion of 2^nd year and upon receipt by the office of your passing grade, Sollmann Electric Co. will reimburse you for the 2^nd year tuition.

• 3^rd year level paid-up front by Sollmann Electric, but will be deducted from your paycheck weekly to reimburse the company.

  • After completion of 3^rd year and upon receipt by the office of your passing grade, Sollmann Electric Co. will reimburse you for the 3^rd year tuition.

• 4^th year level paid up-front by Sollmann Electric, but will be deducted from your paycheck weekly to reimburse the company.

  • After completion of 4^th year and upon receipt by the office of your passing grade, Sollmann Electric Co. will reimburse you for the 4^th year tuition.

   

• 1 year after you have completed the 4-year program, have worked 8,000 on-the-job hours, and received your apprenticeship completion certificate from the State of Ohio, you will be fully reimbursed for your tuition for the 1^st year.

  Note:  The tuition payment schedule starts at the level you are at when first employed with Sollmann Electric.  For example, if you are at the 3^rd level when starting employment, you will not be reimbursed for the 3^rd year tuition until 1 year after you have received your apprenticeship completion certificate.
